Hello,
My name is Tracey, I'm a 43yr old female with three children. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia a little over 3 yrs ago, I wanted a safer environment for my children, you see I'm originally from Philadelphia. I had to leave a job of 21 yrs after trying for a transfer for a couple of yrs, I had to make a tough decision keep the job and continue to worry about my childrens safety or leave the job and find a better place for them.
As you can see I left the job, I figured since I had been employed for 21 yrs with one company getting another job shouldn't be that hard because you can see that I was dependable. Well it didnt' happen that way. I've had a few jobs that paid very little, I ended up homeless with my children I'm currently receiving welfare which is a horrible experience and I have been looking for a job for over a year now. The place in which I live was an income based apartment setting a mixed income commuinty. Somewhere along the lines the owner decided to end the program but not inform the tenants that was on the program till the last minute. I was paying $35.00 in rent but before that I was able to pay half the rent because I had a job and thought it could only get better, but after the job let people go and having to start seeking employment again I barely had any money coming in this is how my rent went down to $35.00. Now that the program has ended I'm expected to pay $350.00 with barely any income. I was able to make two months of payment from the money I received from school, I'm currently attending University of Phoenix for Business.
That money is now gone I had to make purchases for my children, they hadn't had any new shoes or clothers for a good while, but we all know the cost it takes to take care of children. I will say through all of this my children have been troopers but the sad part about the whole thing is there barely hanging on by a string their trying to be strong for me. There are days when I wont even have a simple dollar for myself let alone my children just so they can have a dollar in their pockets.
I don't want a hand out, I need a hand up. I'm not use to not working or having to ask for assistance it really hurts my heart and at the moment I'm terrified, It is the first of the month I don't have the rent to pay to keep a roof over our heads if there is anyone who can help me please contact me, if you know of anyone who can give me employment please contact me. I just need help like many others. I don't know how much more I can take this had been the worse three years of my life. I came to Atlanta for a better life ended up homeless and unemployed. I ended up with a job then I don't have a job. Now it looks as if I'm right back to square one. I tried to be optimistic but when you have your family to take care of it's kind of hard!
